Pay Information: $17 - $19/hour (Depending on experience) Order Type: TE

We are currently hiring a Payroll Clerk. This is a contract position lasting until September providing vacation coverage, with hours varying between 15-40 each week.

The Payroll Clerk performs payroll duties to ensure the accumulation of timely, accurate and complete financial and statistical information.

Responsibilities for the Payroll Clerk include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing of payroll transactions in accordance with approved policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions
  • Preparing and reconciling payment of payroll obligations such as union dues, credit union and Canada Savings Bonds
  • Calculation of retroactive and other miscellaneous payments to employees
  • Maintenance of sick and vacation banks in accordance with approved policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions and accumulation and summarizing of Accounts Payable information.

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

Education and experience

  • Current Payroll experience within the last 10 years
  • Minimum of 1 year experience processing payroll transactions in a computerized environment
  • Minimum Grade 12 educatio.  Completion of 1or more years of Business Administration – Finance/Accounting/Business Program and demonstrated commitment to continual learning
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Word; at least 65 wpm
  • Enrolment in or completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification and/or CPM designation from the Canadian Payroll Association considered an asset

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of processes and procedures relating to the processing of payroll transactions
  • General knowledge of office procedures such as filing, use of business machines and handling telephone inquiries
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities and initiative-self starter
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

Pay: $17 - $19/hour (Depending on experience)
